Techno somatics och Dance history, a crash course

Technosomatics is a dance and somatic practice developed by Frédéric Gies. It consists of an exploration of the endocrine glands and the chakras by means of club dancing to techno music with eyes closed in the dark, as wells as the opposite: an exploration of club dancing by means of embodying the endocrine glands and the chakras. It originates in Gies’ encounters with diverse somatic practices and in their dance floor experiences. It approaches dancing to techno and raving as a tool for self-exploration and for expanding the range of our perceptions.

In Dance history, a crash course, which mixes theory and practice, we will dive into a few selected landmarks from the 20th century Western dance history. We will explore the movement qualities that underlie specific dance languages and choreographic choices, as a way to understand the aesthetic paradigms at stake and the corporealities these languages create.
